World’s easiest bread!
Normally I’m not a big fan of baking bread. It’s sticky, messy, it will leave you with a tower of dishes and the bread never seems to get that good. But then I found this recipe. It’s just so damn easy!
All you need:
0,5 L of water
600 grams of flour (full grain, plain, or mix)
Yeast the size of a pea (really!)
A pinch of salt.
A pot that can stand the heat – I’ve used steel pots.
What you gotta do:
1. Mix the yeast into the water, then adding salt and the flour. Stir in it for 5 minutes. The key to the easy-ness in this bread is that it has to rise for about 12 hours (thus the little amount of yeast). I usually mix everything the night before and leave it in the fridge, or covered with a tea towel on the stove, during the night. Although, I have successfully added more yeast and minimized the rising hours multiple times.
2. Set your oven for 250 degrees and let it heat with the pot (with lid on) in it for 30 minutes. If the pot isn’t warm enough when you add the dough it will stick in the end.
3. Pour the dough into the warm pot, put the lid on and put it in the middle of the oven. Bake it for 30 minutes. After the 30 minutes, take off the lid and bake for another 15 minutes at 230 degrees.
When time is up, the bread should easily fall out of the pot. Let it cool so the crumb will settle and voila.
You can basically add whatever you want to this recipe. I’ve also, succesfully, once added olives and sun-dried tomatoes! yummy!
It’s easy but also lactose free and vegan!
